TIPS FOR STUDENTS S1 E7
Many of us have we undergone online internship during this lock down, many are undergoing internship training. Many of us have got a problem sheet where certain facts of a case are given and asked us to find the judgement on similar cases!!
This is not only in case of internship or article writing competitions even in Moot court we should include judgement/observation. It's very difficult to find out relevant judgement.
So how to find relevant judgement?
There are millions of judgement we can find in different websites and online sources. But how to find the case law that matches to the case which we are preparing for?
By following these tips we can find the relevant case laws
1) Read and understand the problem
This is first and basic tip without reading the problem how we can find the case law which we want? Most of us don't find relevant judgement because we don't understand the problem.
2) search judgement online on the topic which problem is based on
This is the most common method which we all follow. Most of the time we'll get judgement which we want for our assignment or presentation. If you get then cool!! If you don't get it then.... Follow third tip
3) find judgement with key words
If you don't get judgement which you want by searching the topic you should go for key word. In a problem there are some keywords which we get may be some sections of any Act, or legal term search by the key words you'll get case which matches almost 50-70% match to your problem sheet
4) follow the referred judgements
If you get any judgement you'll see there will be many cases which are referred by Hon'ble Court during observation you can access to those judgements for more reference where you can get the judgement which may create a strong impact on your assignment.
5) Read and collect
When you get any judgement, it need not to be the one you are searching for!! You have to read it again and make sure that the judgement has something which matches to my problem and use such observation which you think best for your work. A judgement may have observation of many judges!! Choose wisely.
